Why we need DISH to keep WATE on the air!

I am going to get serious for a moment. We as a Knoxville community have a major situation developing. The lack of investigative reporters in the Knox area.  WATE, is in negotiations with DISH right now about a contract renewal.  The advertising market is no longer supplying the newsrooms with the revenue they need. Nothing in life is free. While more people everyday are joining the cord cutting revolution, when a local disaster strikes, the first thing people turn to is the media. They expect perfect weather forecasts. Uncovering every scandal. As well as making sure we cover their kid at every sporting event.

However, nobody wants to pay for it. In effect, we have sort of become like the music industry. Everybody wants great music. But very few people pay what it is worth.

In life you get what you pay for. News media in my opinion is one of the greatest investments you can make.

An open letter to the community about DISH and Dish TV plan on possibly not covering WATE 6 On Your SideAs many of you...
